Military Records at the Missouri State Archives
The archives holds many military records of Missourians who served in domestic and foreign wars between 1812 and World War I. These records primarily consist of individual service cards. In some cases other information is available, such as payrolls, muster and descriptive rolls, reports, orders, and reparation claims.

County Records on Microfilm at the Missouri State Archives
The Missouri State Archives holds over 65,000 reels of film (deeds, marriages, circuit court and probate court materials) as well as census film and some state agency publications on microfilm. A roll-by-roll listing of this film allows patrons to place orders for copies of the microfilm. County microfilm is constantly being added to the Archives' holdings.

Grave Marker Index of Iron County, MO
This composite index was re-created April 29, 2009 by Ralph Ward Toppins. It is one of the best resources for pre-2008 Iron County burials, but like any transcription effort, it does not include every person buried in a cemetery, e.g., those with missing or non-existent grave markers.
Iron County Register Digitized 1867 - 1879
This free collection, part of the Missouri Digital Newspaper Project at the State Historical Society of Missouri, features digitized copies of the Iron County Register from 1867 to 1879. The collection is searchable.

African American Experience Research Guide
The story of the African American experience in Missouri is told through the personal papers of individuals and families as well as the records of black organizations and churches. Civil War pensions shed light on the aftermath of the war, while photographs, letters, scrapbooks, writings, and newspapers provide insight into the daily life of African Americans living in the state. The State Historical Society of Missouri is pleased to make available these rich resources that document their lives as Missourians.
