Annual Meeting and Elections. Prior to the meeting, local historian, author, and historical society member, Dave Dillard will present his program on the history of iron mining in Pilot Knob. Iron mining in Pilot Knob transformed the region from a vital 19th-century resource that helped to fuel the growth of St. Louis into a massive 20th-century deep-shaft operation that helped to sustain the local economy until its final closure in 1980.
